Resolutions?
So I’ve never been a big fan of setting an outrageous amount of improbable New Years resolutions just for the sake of making them. Mostly because I don’t want to set an unrealistic expectation for myself and then be let down that I didn’t follow through with them. For me, this year is going to be more of the same. Just a few things that I wanted to focus on that I think will help to make for a pretty good year. So in no particular order… Here they are:
- More creativity – I’ve found that I really miss writing, photography, and designing things on a computer. I used to spend a lot of time messing around in Photoshop, taking photos of random things, and writing (or blogging). Just recently, I’ve rediscovered how much I enjoy graphic design, and I think I’ve found a new way to channel it, which I hope to unveil sometime in the next month. Either way, I plan on stretching the ol’ creative muscles in 2016, and this here blog will be a good place to start.
- More travel – For some people (like myself), it takes awhile for the travel bug to hit. Many people I know were bitten years ago and have spent a lot of time experiencing new things and places. I mean, I’ve never been opposed to travel (although some may disagree), I’ve just never taken the time or put the energy into wanting to go way outside my comfort zone until this past year when I went to the UK. And I can 100% say that I’m hooked. So with that in mind, I’m planning on making a couple of trips this year, nothing big. But I’d like to cross off a couple of other places off on my bucket list this year. Hopefully I can make it work with other people, but if need be, it may be time for a solo trip. After all, that is one of the things on the list…
- More me – This one is probably the toughest, and I’d venture a guess that it’s the most important. Let me preface this by saying I don’t plan on changing who I am by any means or treating people differently (well of course other than myself that is). But I’ve somehow managed to finally come to the realization that I don’t really put a lot of focus on myself, and sometimes it’s to a fault. So I want to take some time this year and focus on me. Nothing more, nothing less. I have a feeling that the first two bullet points will help here, but they’re not everything. I need to find a balance somewhere between making others happy as well as myself, and so far in my 38 years on this rock I don’t think I’ve found that balance yet. So here’s to spending 365 days trying to figure it all out, or at least find a starting point.
So yeah, I may get a little wordy, but to me only having a few things to focus on this year shouldn’t be too tough. I think?
